Engines with Robust Design
The engines in Kirloskar Green gensets are not derived from light automotive engines but specially designed for heavy-duty industrial use. The crankcase is integral with a rigid structure at bottom and top ends with stiffening provided through a specially designed beam structure. As a result, it can be used as load bearing member in typical applications like Agricultural Tractors, Forklift Trucks etc. The rigid structure also ensures minimum cylinder bore distortion, low tube oil consumption, extended life of lube oil and reduced particulates emission.

The rigid and integral cylinder head is equipped with replaceable valve guides. The heads are provided with six bolts per cylinder to ensure cylinder clamping. Steel backbone cylinder head gasket ensures proper sealing.

Specially Designed Combustion
The combustion system is designed to ensure low exhaust emission and low combustion noise. The entire lube oil circuit is in-built in the crankcase. This means there is no external piping on the engine and, as a result, leakage is avoided. The lube oil cooler is characterized by compact and efficient, modern plate type design. The crankshaft is made of forged alloy steel with hardened journals and pins.

The piston is designed to have a centralized cavity. High air to fuel ratio, injectors with smaller spray holes and large number of holes ensure proper combustion of fuel.

Silent Operation
The rigid engine structure and crowned gears in the gear train substantially reduce the engine noise.

Low Operating Cost
Kirloskar Green gensets ensure low specific fuel consumption and low lube oil consumption and deliver extended lube oil change period of 400 hours (with recommended lube oil grade). These reduce the operating cost. The lube oil consumption is less than 0.2% of fuel consumption (an input standard that is very low in its class). Hence, the gensets do not call for frequent top-ups.
